Case Study: New York City Parks

Forestry Management System Redesign

axsysTek provided solution design and architecture services to the Department of Parks & Recreation in support of their IT modernization efforts.

Business Challenge 

Parks Forestry Management uses a legacy system to manage all trees growing in public right-of-way including streets, parkways and city parks. Analysis of processes and supporting technology was needed including GIS, data architecture, security, application design and data integrations.

Solution 

Plan and facilitate Discovery sessions of As-Is and To-Be Forestry Management processes and supporting software including application design reviews, data analysis and security assessments.  Documented User Stories, Data Architecture and proposed Deployment plan in support of Future State solution.

Benefit 

Agency has a technology and requirements roadmap to use as a baseline for modernization of its Forestry Management system which enables NYC Parks to improve operations, deliver citizen-services and access to New York City Parks partner-agency data and metrics in real time.
